Start with the movement path
A useful camera rep counter needs to see the body path, not just a face or a single joint. Before a set starts, the iPhone should show the top and bottom positions of the movement. For push-ups, that usually means a side or diagonal angle. For squats, a wider front or diagonal angle is often cleaner.
Choose a stable phone height
A shelf, tripod, stand, or floor mount is better than leaning the phone against something unstable. The camera should stay still for the whole set. A small shift in angle can remove the joint evidence that an on-device counter needs to follow a complete rep.
Make the frame single-person and simple
LoopCam is designed for solo sets. The best frame has one person, steady lighting, and a background that does not hide the body outline. Crowded gyms, mirror reflections, heavy shadows, and partial limbs make camera counting less trustworthy.
Let warnings do their job
A camera counter should not pretend every setup is countable. If LoopCam asks for better framing, that warning is part of the product boundary. It protects the count from low-confidence frames instead of turning a bad camera angle into a confident number.
Use recording as local evidence
Optional local recording can help compare the real rep count with the app's count after the set. This is especially useful for early testing: movement, true reps, counted reps, phone height, phone distance, lighting, and warning timing are more useful than a generic accuracy complaint.
Keep the claim narrow
LoopCam is a privacy-first iPhone workout rep counter for supported movement cycles. It is not a certified coach, medical product, injury-prevention system, or perfect form judge. The strongest setup is a controlled home workout where hands-free counting is useful and filming is appropriate.
Test one controlled set
Try one movement, one camera angle, and one clear count. Send useful feedback with the exercise, true reps, LoopCam count, phone placement, lighting, and whether the warning state appeared at the right time.
